Emerson Point History & Nature Walk

 

Emerson Point is a fantastic place if you want to learn more about Florida's rich and diverse history.  Walk along a shaded boardwalk on the 1200 year-old Native American Temple Mound. Learn more about the early settlers in the region and what their daily lives were like. Climb the overlook tower to catch a view of beautiful Terra Ceia Bay.

Myakka River State Park Canopy Walk

 

The Myakka River State Park is a "must see" for every visitor to Florida. Explore a variety of habitats. Climb the impressive overlook tower which affords a grand view of the Park. Walk along the swinging canopy bridge and learn more about the fantastic orchids, epiphytes and creatures that make their home in the forest canopy. Perfect for families.

J. Mabry Carlton Reserve

 

The Carlton Reserve is a perfect place for those wishing to get away from it all and see the "Real Florida" in all its splendor.  This hike can be customized to explore a variety of different habitats and focus on your particular interests. If you would like to see wildlife, learn about edible and medicinal plants, or just enjoy the natural setting, this hike is for you.

Celery Fields Beginning Birding

 

The Historic Celery Fields site includes over 100 acres of restored marshes and wetlands that provide excellent birding opportunities close to downtown Sarasota. The Sarasota Audubon Society has recorded 216 different bird species that utilize the Celery Fields. Frequent visitors include a variety of herons and egrets as well as Wood Storks and Roseate Spoonbills. This nature walk is easy paced and suitable for all skill levels. Perfect for school groups, families or others wishing to know a little more about the abundant bird life in South Florida.
